The inspiration for the establishment of the LASKIDA Foundation came as a desperate need for a husband to save the life of his wife. Tomilayo Fakeye had been diagnosed of End Stage Renal Failure at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and needed funds for a kidney transplant. Shakomended, an artiste and an entertainer-executive in a session with his friends in the entertainment industry came up with an idea to start the Tomi-Alive Campaign. This culminated into the Tomi-Alive Benefit Concert
